Bayer Leverkusen’s striker Oliver Neuville has been recalled to the German national squad for the friendly against Serbia and Montenegro, but there is no place for Michael Balllack in Rudi Voller’s squad.
Voller has been impressed with his recent form despite Leverkusen’s slide down the league. Jens Jeremies and Frank Baumann return to the squad after missing the last squad through injury.
Bayern’s Michael Ballack heads a lengthy injury list which affects the squad, despite reports he is set to be fit for his club’s game against Wolfsburg at the weekend.
Young defender Andreas Hinkel is the only uncapped player named in the squad while Ben Laugh step’s down to the under-21’s.
Schalke’s Frank Rost will be Oliver Kahn’s understudy in the squad.
