Newly-annointed Premier League champions Arsenal are set to win the race to sign Feyenoord striker Robin van Persie.
Several clubs are interested in signing the gifted attacker, amomng them PSV Eindhoven, Schalke and Sevilla but Arsenal are in pole position to complete a deal. The expected departure from Highbury opf Sylvain Wiltord and Kanu has created an opening for a new striekr at Highbury and van Persie, who has confirmedthat he will not sign a new contract with his present club.
The 20-year-old was initially thought to favour staying in Holland but news of Arsenal’s interest has convinced the Dutchman that his futureliesin the Premiership.
