Porto midfielder Deco Souza says he is almost certain to follow his former manager Jose Mourinho to Chelsea after Euro 2004.
The Brazilian-born midfielder, who is representing Portugal at Euro 2004, confirmed the switch after Wednesday’s 2-0 victory over Russia.
“I have things practically resolved with the clubs,” Deco said after starring in Portugal’s win.
“I still have to do medical exams and sign a contract with Chelsea, which should happen after Euro 2004.”
The 26-year-old Deco is the second player from the Champions League winners set to link up with Mourinho at Stamford Bridge. Last month, it was reported that right back Paulo Ferreira had joined the Premier League club, although representatives of Chelsea have yet to confirm this.
Mourinho was appointed the new Chelsea manager last month following the sacking of previous incumbent, Claudio Ranieri.
