Diego Forlan looks set to move to Atletico Madrid on a season long loan.
Forlan has not impressed greatly during his spell at Manchester United, and the liklihood is that Sir Alex Ferguson would prefer a loan deal to anything permanent at this stage.
It is well known that Atletico have been searching for a striker and at one stage it appeared that Samuel Eto’o would be on his way to the Vicente Calderon. However, a loan deal would suit both parties, and Forlan is still highly regarded around Europe because of his consistent goal scoring for the Uruguayan national team.
The 25-year-old striker has scored just 17 goals in 95 games for United, and has dropped further down the pecking order at Old Trafford since the arrival of Alan Smith.
