Juninho will be a Celtic player within the next few days, according to the 31-year-old Middlesbrough midfielder’s agent.
Juninho has held talks with Celtic in Glasgow and passed a medical and his agent told the BC that a deal was imminent.
Asked if he was a Celtic player as he left Glasgow following talks with the Scottish champions, the Brazilian said: “Not yet, but nearly.”
A Celtic spokesman said that discussions with the player had gone “very well”.
“He is still in discussions with the club and nothing has been signed yet,” the Celtic spokesman added.
“We have had very positive talks with the player and he had a medical.
“Hopefully, we will have some more news within the next 48 hours or so.”
Celtic executive director Peter Lawwell said earlier in the week: “He is the kind of name who would excite the fans, but it’s too early to get carried away.
“It won’t necessarily mean the end of the arrivals this summer.”
“We still have a couple of weeks before the deadline, but clearly, the sooner the better,” said Lawwell.
