Valencia midfielder Miguel Angulo has explained his decision to reject Arsenal in favour of a new deal with the Spanish champions.
It appears that emotional rather than footballing reasons swayed the decision, with Angulo seemingly happier at Valencia than in London.
“There were no problems over money nor any difficulties over my fitness,” Angulo told reporters on his return to Spain after undergoing a medical with the London club.
“I simply reached the conclusion that I was going to be happier in Valencia than London. My heart told me that I should come back and so I decided to return here to Valencia.”
Angulo had travelled to London on Monday to secure his move to English champions Arsenal, who were reported to have agreed to pay £3.4 million for the 27-year-old.
However, a change of heart has seen him back in Spain, where he is now expected to sign a new 4-year deal with Claudio Ranieri’s side.
