Massimo Maccarone believes his move to Parma wil help re-launch his career after a disappointing spell at Middesbrough.
The 24-year-old former international turned down the chance of earning more money at Lazio in favour of a season-long loan at Parma.
“I have renounced more money without any problems; I do not care about money,” said Maccarone.
“I really wanted to return to Italy and to go to Parma in order to revive my ambitions.”
Maccarone has endured a disappointing couple of years in England since his £8.1million move from Empoli two years ago, but the striker has no regrets about his switch to England.
“I would do the same thing again,” admitted Maccarone.
“It has been an incredible experience. I didn’t make the wrong choice, it’s just that things didn’t go as I had planned.
“I was no longer in the plans of [coach Steve McClaren] and that is why I decided to return,” added Maccarone.
“I want to have a regular place in a team even though this is not always guaranteed.
“Now I feel I am ready to face a new season and to make an impact.”
