Bolton manager Sam Allardyce will be given permission by his club to accept the England manager’s job if it is offered to him.
Allardyce is one of the favourites for the post – to be vacated by Sven Goran Eriksson after this sunner’s World Cup finals.
Bolton chairman Phil Gartside has revealed that he will not stand in Allardyce’s way, should his manager be tempted to apply for the England job.
Gartside, a member of the Football Association council, told Bolton’s official website: “I am flattered Sam’s name has been linked with the England coaching vacancy.
“Should the call come from the FA, it would be a very proud moment for Sam Allardyce, Bolton Wanderers and me personally.
“Until such time, Sam is 100 per cent committed to his important role at Bolton.
“He is excited about the prospect of guiding the club on three major fronts – the UEFA Cup, the FA Cup and the possibility of yet another top-half finish in the Barclays Premiership.”
