The 2014 World Cup took place in Brazil and was won by Germany in a final against a Lionel Messi led Argentina side. It was a tense affair with the German side prevailing due to a Mario Gotze goal in extra-time.
However, the tournament was best remembered for Germany’s demolition of Brazil, 7-1 in the semi-final.

The 2018 World Cup will have the world’s best on show with stars like Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar playing for juggernaut sides Argentina, Portugal, and Brazil.
But there will also be stars on lesser known teams like Christian Eriksen of Denmark, Mohamed Salah of Egypt, and Kevin De Bruyne on a Belgium side with huge potential.
Two notable absentees from the tournament are the Netherlands who failed to get out of their qualification group, and Italy, who lost to Sweden in the qualification playoffs.
