After last week’s dramatic five-goal burst from Cristiano Ronaldo, there was a return to normality this week with both he and his rival Lionel Messi, scoring a goal a piece for Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively.
Ronaldo is now up to 38 for the season, four clear of the Barcelona man. With seven league games remaining, the Portuguese striker still has a chance of eclipsing Messi’s all-time Spanish record of 50.
The leading pair are well clear of a trio of Premier League strikers: Chelsea’s Diego Costa Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero and Tottenham’s Harry Kane who sit in joint third place omn 19 goals.
We do have a new entry in the top ten in Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, who maintained his impressive run of form by scoring both goals in his side’s 2-2 draw at Malaga.

Rules
Only the leading five countries – Spain, Italy, Germany, England and Portugal – in the UEFA rankings have two as their multiplier. This is to emphasise the difference in (international) performance level between clubs from those countries and those of other nations.A player cannot play first in a summer league (e.g. Norway) and then in a winter league (e.g. Spain) and combine the points totals for each season.
