Many of Europe’s leading goalscorers were on target this weekend frontrunners Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez.
Ronaldo scored the only goal of the game in Real Madrid’s 1-0 win over Malaga, while Liverpool’s Suarez found the net in Liverpool’s stunning 3-0 win over Manchester United.
The pair are level at the top of the ESM Golden Shoe standings with 25 goals a piece.
Lying in third spot is Atletico Madrid’s Diego Cotsa who scored goal number 22 in his side’s 1-0 win over Espanyol. He’s followed by Zlatan Ibrahimovic who scored both goals in Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-0 win over Saint Etienne.
The biggest mover, though, was last season’s winner Lionel Messi who notched a hat-trick in Barcelona’s 7-0 victory over Osasuna to move him into 6th spot in the standings – the first time the Argentinian has been in the top ten all season. His team-mate Alexis Sanchez also scored in that game and returns to the top ten in 9th spot.
Elsewhere, Mario Mandzukic maintained his good recent form by scoring in Bayern Munich’s 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen and there were two goals form Jonatan Soriano for Red Bull Salzburg in his side’s 5-0 victory over RZ Pellets WAC.
