Luis Suarez ended his recent barren run by scoring in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Southampton on Saturday.

It was the Uruguayan’s first goal in six matches and his 24th of a prolific Premier League season. Another striker back to scoring ways was Cristiano Ronaldo, who marked his return from a three-match suspension by scoring the equaliser in Real Madrid’s 2-2 draw with local rivals Atletico. Ronaldo has now scored 23 for the season, two more than third-placed Diego Costa, coincidentally, of Atletico.

Elsewhere in the top 10 there were goals for Heerenveen’s Alfred Finnbogason and Barcelona’s Alexis Sánchez, while Red Bull Salzburg’s Jonatan Soriano is a new entry after scoring his third hat-trick of the season in a 6-3 win over Rapid Vienna.

Rules

Only the leading five countries – Spain, Italy, Germany, England and Portugal – in the UEFA rankings have two as their multiplier. This is to emphasise the difference in (international) performance level between clubs from those countries and those of other nations.A player cannot play first in a summer league (e.g. Norway) and then in a winter league (e.g. Spain) and combine the points totals for each season.
