The Real Madrid forward scored two almost identical goals (video below) in his side’s 4-0 win over Osasuna to move level with Luis Suarez in the race to become Europe’s leading scorer.

The Uruguayan striker failed to add to his tally of 30 this season, as Liverpool suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Chelsea – a reverse which dents their Premier League title aspirations.

Last season’s winner Lionel Messi moves up to third, alongside Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa, after the Argentinian scored the late winner in Barcelona’s 3-2 victory over Villarreal.

The only other movers in the upper reaches were Ciro Immobile who scored in Torino’s 2-0 win over Udinese, and Porto’s Jackson Martinez, who re-enters the top ten after scoring from the penalty spot against Rio Ave.

Rules

Only the leading five countries – Spain, Italy, Germany, England and Portugal – in the UEFA rankings have two as their multiplier. This is to emphasise the difference in (international) performance level between clubs from those countries and those of other nations.A player cannot play first in a summer league (e.g. Norway) and then in a winter league (e.g. Spain) and combine the points totals for each season.
