Here’s your daily round-up of the latest transfer gossip from World Soccer.
MANCHESTER UNITED WANT UPAMECANO
After struggling to secure their first-choice targets this summer, Manchester United are already beginning to plan for next summer’s transfer window. This won’t soften the blow for the club’s supporters, who remain frustrated that The Red Devils missed out on Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.
According to Bild, via The Sun, the Old Trafford club will attempt to sign RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano for £36.5 million in 2021. However, Liverpool and Manchester City are also interested. Given how poor they’ve been defensively so far this season, supporters will be questioning why they didn’t target the 21-year-old this summer, rather than waiting another year to pursue a deal.
AOUAR NOT DISAPPOINTED
Arsenal managed to secure the signing of Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey on Deadline Day. However, they weren’t able to sign one of their other top targets, in the form of Lyon’s Houssem Aouar.
However, according to the Daily Mail, the 22-year-old midfielder has since revealed that he is not disappointed about moving out on a move to the Emirates. Aouar’s comments suggest he wasn’t keen on a move to the Premier League, which will make The Gunners even more pleased that they managed to secure the signature of Partey to boost Mikel Arteta’s midfield options.
EFL TARGETS EMERGING
Of course, this summer’s transfer window isn’t officially over until this time next week, as Premier League sides can still sign players from the Football League and vice versa.
According to Football Insider, Bournemouth will not allow David Brooks to leave before the end of the domestic transfer window. Sheffield United want to re-sign the 23-year-old, whilst Manchester United have also been linked with the winger earlier in the window.
Elsewhere, West Ham United are considering a £5 million move for Queens Park Rangers midfielder Ryan Manning, according to The Daily Star.
