Bolton manager Sam Allardyce has admitted that he would love to be considered for the England job.
Allardyce has emerged as one of the bookies’ favourite to replace Graeme Souness at Newcastle but he has revealed that he is more tempted by the prospect of managing the England national team.
In an interview with Discovery Real Time’s Total Fishing, Allardyce has conceded he is flattered to be linked with England’s top job.
”I’d like to give myself five more years. I’m 50 now,” said Allardyce.
”I promised the family and the wife in particular that 55 might be the best time for me to get out of the rat race and see more things in my life.
”Well that (the England job) would obviously be something you’d love to be considered for and then you’d have to assess how long you wanted to go on at that point.
”I mean how successful you are as England manager is, it can be a long stay but it can be a very short stay!”
