Porto won the European Champions Cup for the second time, beating Monaco 3-0 in what will be coach Jose Mourinho’s last match in charge.

Carlos Alberto, scored from 12 yards out six minutes before halftime. Deco doubled the lead on 70 minutes, after wrongfooting keeper Roma. The third goal came four minutes later when substitute Dmitri Alenitchev smashed the ball past the helpless Monaco keeper.

After wards Porto coach Jose Mournho confirmed that he would be leaving the club. Amove to the Premiership to wither Chelsea or Liverpool appears his most likely destination.

“My mission is complete (with Porto),” Mourinho said afterward. “It’s almost for sure my last match.”

‘We made history, but I have to keep working and try to get success in my next step. This is the best way to finish my career with Porto. In 2 1/2 years, we have won everything. I am very proud in what we did, but the time to leave has arrived.’

Monaco played most of the game without captain Ludovic Giuly, who limped off after 23 minutes.

‘It was not good news for us. Giuly is very important for our offensive style’ Monaco coach Didier Deschamps said.

‘We tried with great determination, but Porto are a very strong defensive side.’
