Chelsea have appealed to UEFA in a bid to overturn the three-match ban handed out to defender Marcel Desailly.
Desailly was given the ban after elbowing Monaco’s Fernando Morientes during the Champions League semi-final.
“The appeal went in before the deadline of midnight on Monday and will be heard on Friday so we should know before the second leg,” said a statement.
UEFA suspended the French international defender after studying video evidence of the incident.
