Claudio Ranieri was ecstatic after his Leicester City side won a historic Premier League title for the first time in their 132-year history.
Ranieri flew back from his native Italy to watch last night’s emotionally-charged game between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
Eden Hazard’s late equaliser ensured that the title would be heading to the Foxes for the first time and Ranieri paid tribute to everyone associated with the club.
Ranieri said: “I’m so proud. I’m happy for my players, for the chairman, for the staff at Leicester City, all our fans and the Leicester community.
“It’s an amazing feeling and I’m so happy for everyone. The players have been fantastic. They deserve to be champions.
“Their focus, their determination and their spirit has made this possible. They fight for each other every game and I love to see this in my players.”
Ranieri never expected to win the title, and said that he was taking each game week-by-week.
“I never expected this when I arrived. I’m a pragmatic man, I just wanted to win, match-after-match, and help my players to improve week-after-week.
“Never did I think too much about where it would take us.”
