Everton have invited supporters to spend a night sleeping at the club’s Goodison Park stadium as part of a wider campaign to highlight the problems faced by homeless people.
The club is to open the Park End stand on Friday 25 November and is inviting football fans in the city to spend the night to experience the challenges faced by homeless people on a daily basis. A £10 registration is requested with participants asked to raise a minimum of £150 in sponsorship to generate funds for the club’s Everton In The Community programme.
Everton’s statement on the Goodison Sleepout campaign reads:
“Everton in the Community is opening up the gates to the Park End on Friday 25 November and inviting Evertonians to grab their sleeping bags and sleep out at Goodison Park to experience the challenges that homeless people face on a daily basis.
Participants will leave the comfort of their home and brave the elements as they help to raise much needed funds for EitC and raise awareness of the homeless across Merseyside. The Charity is grateful to local legal firm, Stephensons Solicitors LLP who have made a kind donation to the cause.
Round up your friends and family to take part in this unique event at Goodison Park. The cost is entry is a £10 registration fee and Everton in the Community is asking participants to raise a minimum of £150 in sponsorship. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
The Goodison Sleepout will raise vital funds for the Club’s official charity, helping to identify and support vulnerable people and to change lives for the better.
Due to potential severe weather conditions, this event may be both physically and mentally challenging. Therefore, all participants must be aged 18+ and be in an appropriate medical and physical condition.
Everton in the Community will provide a ground mat and foil sheet/blanket but all participants are required to bring necessary equipment required for sleeping outdoors and wear relevant clothing and footwear.”
