Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has admitted he considered joining Manchester United last summer.
The tenacious midfielder was linked with a move to Old Trafford last summer, but he opted to stay with Milan because of the club’s stature.
“There has been a really little idea [about leaving]. Let’s say a 30/40 percent chance,” Gattuso told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Then I made a conscious examination – what there is at Milan isn’t everywhere.”
Gattuso now hopes to end his career with Milan.
“This is my aim and I want it [ending his career at Milan],” added Gattuso.
“I have a contract that will expire in 2009, but I have already spoken with [Adriano] Galliani and I am thinking two things -I am thinking of closing here my career at the age of 34 and that it would be an honour.”
The Italian international also admitted he is desperate to make amends for last season’s Chjampions League cup final loss to Liverpool.
“I’d like to go to Paris, because I want to play another Champions League final. And I wouldn’t fail for a second time,” added Gattuso.
