Pawel Janas has been named the new coach of Poland following the resignation of Zbigniew Boniekearlier this month.
The chairman of the Polish Football Federatoon Michal Listkiewicz, confirmed Janas’ appointment earlier today. Janas will be assisted by a Edward Klejdinst, current coach of the Polish Olympic team.
Janas has been sports director of Ekstraklasa team Amica Wronki, but he is perhaps best known for his spell at Legia Warszawa, who he guided to thequarter-finals of the Champions League in 1995-96.
As a player, Janas won 53 caps for Poland, scoring once, after making his debut against Argentina in March 1976.
He, along with his predecessor Boniek, was a member of the Polish team that finished in third place at the 1982 World Cup finals.
