Internazionale striker Mohammed Kallon has been handed an eight-month ban for testing positive for the banned steroid nandrolone.
The promising youngster will not play until next season after failing a test conducted after the Serie A game against Udinese on September 27th.
Kallon, a Sierra Leone international, may consider himself fortunate as the prosecution were calling for a four-year ban from all competitions.
Inter and Kallon’s lawyers stated they would appeal against the Disciplinary Commission’s decision.
A statement on Inter’s website read: “The Disciplinary Commission have qualified the episode like a non-intentional event, because they gave him a ban incompatible with a hypothesis of intentional doping.
“We wait for the reasons of this decision – that will be known in the next few days.
“The player, reaffirming the absolute correctness of his behaviour, will make an appeal to the proper Commission.”
