France coach Roger Lemerre ramains optimistic his side can still qualify for the next phase, despite picking up just one point from their opening two matches.
“We still have hope, we need to have a great match against Denmark but it is possible,’ saiid Lemerre after France”s 0-0 draw with Uruguay.
“Unfortunately we didn’t manage any goals tonight so we’re disappointed,” said Lemerre.
“But tonight France are still not eliminated, we are still masters of our destiny.”
“All of France saw the team battle with 10 men against 11. My compliments to all the players,’ he added, in reference to the dismissal of Thierry Henry after just 25 minutes.
