England striker Alan Smith is expected to complete his £8m transfer from Leeds to Manchester United in the next few hours.
Leeds director Peter Lorimer denied a deal has been finalised, but admitted it could be completed soon.
“We have offers from other clubs but Alan has said he would like to go to Old Trafford,” revealed Lorimer.
“That is the situation as it is now and with United in the cup final we will look at it again next week. At present Alan remains our player.”
Everton made a £7m bid for Smith, but Smith is thought to prefer a move to United.
