Milan have no intention of replacing Carlo Ancelotti with Frank Rijkaard, according to the club’s vice-president Adriano Galliani.
Ancelotti’s position has come under scrutiny following last season’s Champions League defeat to Liverpool and Barcelona coach Rijkaard, a former Milan player, has been mentioned as a possible replacement.
However, Galliani has confirmed Ancelotti will remain in charge next season.
“Carlo Ancelotti will stay at Milan for the season 2006-2007,” said Galliani. “I’ve also told it to the team.
“We continue with this Milan because we want to earn big things.”
Club owner and Italian Prime minister Silvio Berlusconi also dismissed rumours of Ancelotti’s departure.
“Ancelotti stays at Milan,” Berlusconi told Rai tv.
“Rumours that are circulating about him are absolutely groundless.”
