Portugal coach Antonio Oliveira remained tight-lipped about the referee’s performance after seeing two Portugal players get dismissed during their 1-0 defeat to South Korea.
Portugal, requiring just a point from their match with South Korea, crashed out in spectacular fashion, losing two players and conceding a late goal to seal their exit from the competition.
“It makes no sense to comment on the referee now,” said a stunned Oliveira.
“We did not agree with his decisions – but there will be no more comments now about this,” he added
“I’m very disappointed. This is not the result we expected at the World Cup. I have to compliment the Koreans, however. And wish them luck. We were unlucky with our late missed chances,” said Oliveira.
“I am sad how things have worked out. But life goes on. “My team did everything possible to score,” Oliveira concluded.
