Ronaldo has been told that he is going nowhere and should be grateful for what he has got at Inter, said the Serie A club’s president Massimo Moratti.
‘Ronaldo is more than 80 percent certain to stay with Inter. In fact, I would say 100 percent certain,’ Inter President Massimo Moratti was quoted as saying by Italian newsagency Ansa.
The statement seems sure to scupper Ronaldo’s hopes of a move to European chapions Real Madrid, who according to Moratti had made an enquiry for the Brazilian striker.
‘The approach wasn’t economically satisfactory,’ confirmed Moratti. ‘Ronaldo would do well to appreciate what he has going for him here.’
Ronaldo has been linked with a move to Spain since his World Cup heroics for Brazil offered ample confirmation of his return to full fitness. Eight goals from the striker helped Brazil to their fifth World Cup triumph and reignited speculation that he would be bound for the Bernabeu.
In stark contrast to his comments about Ronaldo, Moratti was full of praise for his fellow striker Christian Vieri.
‘I now appreciate Vieri, with whom I haven’t always had a good relationship, for his attachment to the club and for the example that he has shown to his colleagues,’ he said.
