Javier Saviola may be on his way from Barcelona to Atletico Madrid next season in a one-year loan deal.
Reports from Spain say Atletico are prepared to pay all of Saviola’s wages for the year, in an attempt to pair him up front with Fernando Torres. It’s thought that Patrick Kluivert’s likely move to Newcastle has prompted Atletico to turn their attention to the Argentinian.
With a wealth of attacking options at his disposal, Barca coach Frank Rijkaard may well take the opportunity to off-load one of the club’s top wage-earners.
It’s unlikely any decision will be made before Saviola comes back from the Copa America, but it’s known that he has a meeting scheduled with the Catalan club on his return.
