Chelsea have completed the signing of Tiago, after the Benfica midfielder agreed personal terms with the club.
The 23 year-old had already passed a medical and joins the London club on a three-year deal. He’s thought to have cost around £10m and brings Chelsea’s summer spending spree up to £75m.
Tiago leaves Benfica having fallen out with club chief Jose Veiga, but his move to England was in doubt earlier this week when Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho admitted negotiations over personal terms with the Portugese international had reached a stalemate.
Talks with Tiago may have been pushed along by Mourinho’s statement that any signings for the coming season must be made by Wednesday, so they could join the squad for their tour of the USA.
