Sander Westerveld has been told he can leave Real Sociedad if a reasonable offer comes in.
“Real Sociedad have told me the best thing would be to look for another club,” Westerveld told reporters on Monday.
“I understand the situation but I’m not happy. I’m confused and worried. I need to play.”
Westerveld joined Sociedad from Liverpool for £3.5m midway through the 2001-02 campaign and he was an integral member of the side which claimed runners-up spot in the Spanish league the following season.
However, the club struggled last season and Sociedad are now looking to recoup their investment on the Dutch keeper.
“The price the club are asking for me is not too high,” the goalkeeper said.
“I’ve been informed of this a little late, though, and as yet there are no offers. I’d like to stay in Spain or go back to England.”
